Dematting
If a coat can be brushed out with minimal discomfort to your dog, we will do so for an additional charge.
If mats are too tight to the skin or too extensive, the most humane option is to shave the coat and start fresh. Hair grows back — and we’re happy to show you how to prevent matting in the future. Humanity before vanity.
Hand stripping
Hand stripping is a specialized skill. It is billed hourly at a rate set by each groomer with a one-hour minimum, and new hand-stripping clients are accepted only after a consultation.
Safety & refusal of service
Your pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being come first. A groom may be altered or stopped if your groomer determines it is in your pet’s best interest, if it is no longer safe to continue, if a pet is too large or heavy to handle safely, or if a pet shows aggressive behavior.
Each business at Pooch Paws reserves the right to refuse service at any time. Pets who bite or injure a groomer will not be able to return, and bites are reported to local authorities as required by law. The full price of the groom will be charged.

What does “shared work location” mean?
Every groomer at Pooch Paws runs their own independent business from our Hanover location. You book with, communicate with, and pay your groomer directly.
How do I book an appointment?
Choose a groomer who is accepting new clients and send them a text. Include your dog’s breed, age, coat condition, and any special needs.
How long does a groom take?
Because grooming is one-on-one, we aim to have most dogs finished in about two hours. Some grooms take longer, depending on coat condition, size and how your dog is feeling that day. Either way, your groomer will let you know when your dog is ready to go home.
What vaccinations are required?
Proof of a current rabies vaccination is required for every dog.
What should I do when I arrive?
Ring the bell for your groomer at your appointment time. They’ll come out to greet you and your dog.
Why are nails filed instead of clipped?
We use the Diamagroove Pinnacle file, which keeps nails cool, greatly reduces vibration, and leaves a smooth, safe finish. Long nails can lead to foot deformities and back problems, so regular care matters.
